Come back to me. That was the very last thing I said to him.
Always. The very last thing he said to me.
Home on leave in sunny California, Marine and local lothario Kit Ryan finds himself dangerously drawn to his best friend’s sister, Jessa – the one girl he can’t have.
But Kit’s not about to let a few obstacles stand in his way and soon Jessa’s falling for his irresistible charms.
What starts out as a summer romance of secret hook-ups and magical first times quickly develops into a passionate love affair that turns both their worlds upside down.
When summer’s over and it’s time for Kit to redeploy, neither Kit nor Jessa are ready to say goodbye. Jessa’s finally following her dreams and Kit’s discovered there’s someone he’d sacrifice everything for.
Jessa’s prepared to wait for Kit no matter what. But when something more than distance and time rips them apart they’re forced to decide whether what they have is really worth fighting for.
A breathtaking, scorchingly hot story about love, friendship, family and finding your way back from the edge of heartbreak.
“I’m asking you to wait for me. I’m going to come back to you. I promise.”
Come Back To Me is such an intense story that you can’t help but love. It’s a forbidden romance between Kit and Jessa, and as soon as you say the words forbidden romance I’m hooked, because I love this kind so much…Not all of them, though, are able to elicit strong emotions like Come Back To Me did. Mila Grey crafted an incredible story of love, sacrifice and courage, that made my heart flutter, made tears come to my eyes, made me wish more stories were like this one.
Kit and Jessa’s brother, Riley, have been friends since their childhood, and they both decide to enlist in the marines. Jessa has always had a thing for Kit, and Kit has always been attracted to Jessa, but he’d never acknowledged it to himself. When Kit and Riley come home on leave, Kit falls head over heals in love with Jessa, but their romance is forbidden from the very beginning – they both know Jessa’s father wouldn’t approve and nothing seems to dissuade him from his bad opinion of Kit. But at some point their romance gets uncovered…
“You’re in my blood. You’re the only thing that got me through this, Jessa. Because even during the bad times, the worst times, the times I’d wake up in a cold sweat, my heart thumping, the times I’d think the only way out was by killing myself and just having it all go away, I’d think of you and it would pull me back out of whatever dark place I’d fallen into. You’re my light, Jessa. My north star.”
I love how Mila wrote the scenes of the forbidden stage of their love. Kit and Jessa do anything in their power to be able to see each other, without being caught, and I found myself cheering for them and wanting to stand on sentry for them. The scenes are very tender and sweet, and there’s the right amount of steam to make your blood pump fast in your veins.
I love that Kit and Jessa’s relationship stems from real love, and there’s no doubt about it when you read the book. They’re not together just because of the forbidden aspect of their love. We know that when something’s forbidden, it’s more appealing and attractive, but that’s not the case of Kit and Jessa. They really love each other and their relationship proves it, especially because of what they both go through afterwards…
“What do you want?’ I hiss.
‘I want you,’ he answers.”
After their romance is uncovered a lot of things happen, and one of them in particular made me cry hard, but I love how Mila showcased the reality of life. And I recovered quickly, because Kit and Jessa’s love wins in the end… ;)
This is the first book I’ve read by Mila Grey and I can’t wait to read more of her works.
